Good day! Both options work. We have laid out the pros and cons of each approach below: Extension Cord – Pros: All appliances plugged into the extension cord will have its voltage regulated 24/7, since the power source passes through the AVR first before reaching the extension cord then the appliance – Cons: Make sure the appliances plugged into the extension cord does NOT exceed 1000W (incl. startup power motor consumption), since that’s the maximum capacity of the AVR. AVR – Pros: You can plug in other appliances into the extension cord. Max capacity of extension cord is 2500W (incl. startup power motor consumption) – Con: Only appliances plugged into the AVR will enjoy the 24/7 voltage regulation We hope this helps!
